The Howard AAE Dataset 1.0 cannot be used for creating technology designed for policing, criminal justice, and/or law enforcement activities, and/or arresting, restraining, and/or imprisoning Black or African American people.
The Howard AAE Dataset 1.0 cannot be used for developing technology to recognize and identify Black or Brown voices for biometric purposes.
The Howard AAE Dataset 1.0 cannot be sold to other researchers, scientists, institutions, or other organizations.
The Howard AAE Dataset 1.0 cannot be posted full or in-part to the web by any researchers, scientists, institutions, and/or organizations that want to use it for study or for creation of technology.
All researchers, scientists, or organizations that wish to use the Howard AAVE Dataset 1.0 will not use it to create technology that intentionally harms Black, African American, and/or marginalized groups.
All researchers, institutions, scientists, and/or organizations agree to not share the Howard AAE Dataset 1.0 full or in-part with outside entities.
All software or technology developed as a result of the Howard AAE Dataset 1.0 must directly benefit the Black and/or African American community.
All researchers, scientists, and organizations must cite this publication (citation TBD) on research that stems from the usage of the Howard AAE Dataset 1.0.
Any derived works created from the Howard AAE Dataset 1.0 must acknowledge Howard University and the researchers that devoted time to protecting and creating the dataset.
No institution, organization, scientist, and/or researcher can create a derived work from the Howard AAE Dataset 1.0 and make it open-source or freely open to the public without express permission from Howard University.
Any derived software and/or technology that results from the Howard AAE Dataset 1.0 will pay Howard University a license fee for its usage. This license fee will be negotiated and decided upon by the organization and Howard University Intellectual Property Office and Office of General Counsel.
Modification of this data license and its guidelines for fair usage of the Howard AAE Dataset 1.0 must be approved by Howard University.
